Security score

Risk levelHigh

0–100, higher is better. How it is calculated

Hamernik s.r.o. is a small manufacturing company based in the Czech Republic specializing in the production of quality wooden handles, grips, tools, and wooden briquettes. Established in 1991, the company emphasizes eco-friendly sourcing of wood from European forests and combines modern technology with traditional craftsmanship. The website reflects this focus with detailed descriptions of their products and certifications such as FSC® and EKO-COM, supporting their commitment to quality and sustainability. The company is a member of IIG, a.s., indicating some corporate affiliation. Technically, the website is built on an older version of WordPress (4.6.29) with basic use of jQuery and SEO plugins. The site is accessible, with moderate performance and basic mobile optimization. However, it lacks modern security headers and up-to-date platform versions, which could expose it to vulnerabilities. There is no visible privacy or cookie policy, and no advanced analytics or tracking tools are detected, indicating minimal user tracking. From a security perspective, the site uses HTTPS but does not implement additional security headers or explicit privacy compliance mechanisms. The absence of a vulnerability disclosure policy and incident response contacts suggests limited formal security governance. The WHOIS data is unavailable due to privacy protection, which is common for small businesses but limits domain trust verification. Overall, the site is functional and moderately trustworthy but would benefit from security and compliance enhancements. Strategically, the company should prioritize updating its CMS and plugins, implementing comprehensive privacy and cookie policies, and adding security headers to improve its security posture and regulatory compliance. Enhancing transparency around data protection and incident response would also build greater trust with customers and partners.

Risk management, continuity, supply chain, training, MFA, management oversight (Art. 20) and incident reporting (Art. 23) need internal evidence, and Guard cannot tell whether NIS2 applies to this organisation.

Results by check

Each check with its score, findings and the evidence it collected.

How this score is calculated

The security score runs 0–100, higher is better. It is the plain average of the security checks that completed in this scan, each counted equally. A check that could not run is left out: it counts neither as a pass nor as a fail.

Not counted

  • NIS2 outside view: Re-weights evidence from the TLS, email, DNS, network and hygiene checks, so counting it would count that evidence twice. Shown on its own.
  • OffSeq Observations: An AI reading of the site, useful context but not reproducible evidence. Shown on its own.

Findings that cap the score at 49

Each of these is serious on its own, so while any is present the site cannot rate better than high risk, however good the other checks are.

  • The certificate is not trusted by browsers
  • The website is not served over HTTPS
  • A database, remote desktop, file-sharing or Telnet service is reachable from the internet
  • The page loads a script from a compromised source
  • The domain registration has expired
  • SPF authorises every server to send mail as the domain

Partial scans

When the site blocks Guard or most checks cannot run, the score covers only the checks that ran (usually DNS and email), is capped at 75 and is shown as partial, without a risk level.

Business context

Business profile

Hamernik s.r.o. operates in the manufacturing sector with a niche focus on wooden handles and related products for gardeners, builders, foresters, and handymen. Their competitive advantage lies in their long-standing market presence since 1991, eco-friendly sourcing, and certifications like FSC® and EKO-COM that appeal to environmentally conscious customers. The business model centers on producing and selling quality wooden products with a focus on craftsmanship and sustainability. Revenue streams likely come from direct sales to trade and retail customers. The target customer segments are professionals and hobbyists in gardening, construction, and forestry. The company is a member of IIG, a.s., which may provide strategic partnerships or support. Growth indicators are not explicit but the website content and certifications suggest a stable operation. The partnership ecosystem is limited in public information, with no visible related domains or social media presence.

Security posture

The website demonstrates a basic security maturity level. HTTPS is implemented, ensuring encrypted communications. However, the absence of security headers such as Content Security Policy, X-Frame-Options, and HSTS reduces protection against common web attacks. The use of an outdated WordPress version (4.6.29) and older jQuery libraries increases the risk of vulnerabilities. No privacy or cookie policies are present, indicating potential GDPR compliance gaps. There is no visible incident response or vulnerability disclosure information, which limits preparedness for security incidents. No analytics or tracking scripts reduce privacy risks but also limit user behavior insights. Overall, the security posture is functional but requires improvements in platform updates, security headers, and compliance documentation to reduce risk and enhance trust.

Recommendations

  1. Update WordPress core and all plugins to the latest stable versions to mitigate known vulnerabilities.
  2. Implement and publish comprehensive privacy and cookie policies to improve GDPR compliance and user transparency.
  3. Add standard security headers such as Content Security Policy (CSP), HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), X-Frame-Options, and X-Content-Type-Options.
  4. Establish a vulnerability disclosure policy and incident response contact information to enhance security governance and trust.
  5. Consider implementing a cookie consent mechanism to comply with EU cookie regulations and improve user experience.

Description
We focus on producing quality wooden handles and grips for gardeners, builders, foresters, workers and handymen. We have been on the market since 1991. Our goal is to provide the greatest possible working comfort for our customers. We use high quality wood from European forests harvested in an eco-friendly environment. Our manufacturing processes and the new technologies we employ allow us to machine the wood almost completely without any scrap left over. We produce wooden briquettes (with no additives) and firewood from the waste. Even though the production is done with the help of modern technology, we still pay attention to customs and tradition. Throughout the existence of our company, we have focused on quality. We are convinced that wood is an irreplaceable natural material when manufacturing handles.

Technical notes

Notes

The website is built on WordPress 4.6.29, which is significantly outdated and may expose the site to security vulnerabilities. The frontend uses jQuery 1.12.4 and jQuery Migrate 1.4.1, along with the FlexSlider plugin and Squirrly SEO plugin for SEO enhancements. The site loads external resources from Google Fonts and WordPress.org. Performance is moderate with basic mobile optimization and accessibility features. SEO is supported by the Squirrly SEO plugin but lacks advanced structured data like JSON-LD or Open Graph tags. The site does not implement modern security headers or advanced analytics. The hosting provider is not identified from the data. Overall, the technical infrastructure is functional but dated, with opportunities for modernization and security hardening.
Standards and sources

Reference chips under each finding point to the standard, regulation or specification the finding relates to. They are taken from the official datasets below and mapped conservatively: a finding with no defensible link shows none. NIS2 and GDPR references mark where a finding is relevant evidence, not a compliance verdict. Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2690 binds digital infrastructure and digital service providers; for other entities it is the most detailed public reading of the Article 21 measures. WCAG, EN 301 549, European Accessibility Act and Web Accessibility Directive references name the requirement an automated accessibility rule relates to; they are not a conformance verdict.
